Fakir or Faqir is the Sufi term used to describe someone who performs magic tricks or feats of endurance. The word is derived from Arabic word for "poor" or "poverty".
The word often refers to a beggar-type with spiritual qualities and travelling magicians. Most famous for the "Indian Rope Trick".
