Quarter (or other coin) Through Hand Trick

A good beginner trick to practice and master. Once mastered perhaps you can think of variations on the base trick.

Materials Needed :

2 identical quarters (or other coins)
Some transparent tape or magicians wax (can be bought at most magic supply stores)

How the Trick Appears:

You pose a participant to hold out their hand palm up. You place your hand on top of their hand -- palm down. With your other hand you place a quarter on top of your hand and show that with one quick slap of the quarter you will make it pass through your hand and into their hand.

How the Trick Works:

When you put your palm on top of the participants open hand, you will already have the quarter in your palm. (It is probable that need to practice "palming a coin " first).
If you put your hand on their hand promptly enough, the quarter will not fall nor will the participant feel it in their hand! You then place the additional quarter on top -- on the reverse of your hand.
The palm of your hand which is not touching the participants hand, is where the tape or wax needs to be.
Then with a swift motion, you slap the top quarter, which becomes stuck to the tape/wax. Slowly remove your other hand to permit the surprised participant to view how the quarter "magically" passed through your hand and into their palm. Call it osmosis.

Notes: Warm the quarter up by holding it in your hand for awhile before the performance so it doesn't feel cold when it's placed in the participants hand.
